Apotek Reykjavik Hotel is a stylish boutique hotel located in the very heart of Reykjavik´s most prestigious shopping, entertainment and cultural district. The historical building formerly housed the pharmacy Reykjavikur Apotek and is widely considered to be one of the most remarkable buildings in Reykjavik.

Guðjón Samúelsson, former State Architect of Iceland, designed the building in 1917. Guðjón built some of Iceland´s most renowned buildings such as the National theater building, Hotel Borg, Akureyrarkirkja church and Hallgrímskirkja church.

Apotek Reykjavik Hotel offers 45 rooms, including eight Junior suites and a tower suite.

Apotek Reykjavik Hotel is located in one of Reykjavik‘s oldest and most cherished buildings, the Reykjavik Apothecary or Reykjavikur Apótek.

The 5 floor landmark in the center of Reykjavik‘s downtown area is full of history and original characteristics that have been intentionally protected and restored.

This 1917 building is a design by former State Architect and visionary of his time, Guðjón Samúelsson. It originally housed the Reykjavik Apothecary a name that has followed the building ever since.

Apotek Hotel is only 7 minutes away from the domestic airport and 45 minutes from the international airport. The Flybus service departs the airport after every international flight arrival. The driver, when asked, will stop at Apotek Hotel. Upon departing the hotel, the concierge will reserve Flybus seats. Taxi and rental car services are also available at the international airport and city center of Reykjavík, Iceland.

Located in the heart of Reykjavik, this hotel nestles inside one of Reykjavik’s oldest historic buildings, the Reykjavikurapótek (the city’s main pharmacy). The exterior was designed by former state architect Guðjón Samúelsson – who also designed the Hallgrímskirkja church – and the décor is a blend of original Art Nouveau features (elegant marble staircase and curved walls), neutral tones, and original artwork by sculptor Gudmundur Einarsson. The spacious rooms are decked out in soothing beiges, greys, and creams. In keeping with the building’s history, the resident “pharmacists” mix medicinal-themed cocktails at the hotel bar.
